Comité Coordinador Regional del Codex para el Cercano Oriente (CCNE) - Coordinador regional: Irán

El Comité Coordinador para el Cercano Oriente celebró su primera reunión en 2001. Egipto, Jordania, Túnez y el Líbano han ejercido como coordinadores de la región, que cuenta con 17 miembros.

El CCNE ofrece a los miembros la oportunidad de trabajar colectivamente sobre normas regionales e internacionales y de intercambiar puntos de vista sobre cuestiones relacionadas con el Codex.

El CCNE trata de mejorar la participación de los países de la región en la labor del Codex mediante el fortalecimiento de la comunicación regional y la promoción del uso de las normas del Codex, especialmente teniendo en cuenta la situación y las necesidades de la región.

Asimismo, la región trabaja para aumentar la capacidad de los miembros en materia de evaluación de riesgos, así como potenciar las capacidades de los puntos de contacto del Codex y los comités nacionales del Codex para determinar y priorizar las cuestiones relacionadas con la inocuidad alimentaria y los asuntos comerciales.

Regional workshop to strengthen Codex work in Near East

Thirty-eight participants from Yemen, Sudan and Egypt are currently meeting in Cairo for a three-day workshop on Codex Alimentarius and its procedures. Regional Meeting for Near East begins in Rome

Codex filming in Lebanon

A camera crew from Flooded Cellar are currently in Lebanon making a video for Codex that looks at the relevance and importance of Codex standards, guidelines and codes of practices to the Near East region. Near East Committee guiding strategy and regional standards

The Eighth session of the FAO/WHO Coordinating Committee for the Near East (CCNEA) took place in FAO HQ Rome from 1-5 June.
